Take Back Your Time Day
Today is Take Back Your Time Day. “To get up off your butt and take back or get
a life.” I have a best life!
Today Paul and I celebrate our one-year
anniversary of being retired! On October
24, 2023 we officially sold our home to Megan at 9am, Paul was laid off at 11am
and I quit my job at 4pm. Our plan to retire early and buy a sailboat
began in January 2021 after taking a sailing vacation. Our three-year plan included strenuous saving,
serious purging and learning as much as possible about sailing and boat
life. Being able to begin in October
instead of January was well spent.
The
year has been amazing in so many ways and the coming year promises to be just
as fulfilling. We have found a dock to
leave our boat so we can return for the holidays!!! We will be leaving her on a private dock in
Stuart, Florida. A little pricey but I
am not ready to skip Christmas yet.
(Probably never).
This morning, I walked with Lisa, known
for more than 30 years, she reaffirmed the best decision I made of quitting my
job. With a nursing strike on the
horizon, the expectations and problems of the job will be exponentially
greater. Good riddance!
And I was able to squeeze in a dentist
appointment. I do not like the smells
(nauseating), the sounds (worse than fingernails on a chalkboard) or the
inability to talk (Why do they ask questions?).
But I managed. It also helped
knowing I will not be going back for almost a year.
And tonight, we are having dinner with all
the kids. Always fun.
