National Whiners Day

Created in 1986 to encourage people to be thankful for what they have and stop whining about what is missing, on this day it is okay to whine - National Whiners Day.  They only thing I need to whine about is the cold.

Working on Brianna's bureau in the garage at Megan's is cold.  Turning the kerosene heater on is an okay solution but really just takes the edge off.  Only after sanding for a bit do I start to warm up.

Moving the treadmill to Lincoln is my solution to walking where it is warm and dry.  There is no cold car to warm to drive to a safe, ice free walking path.  (The scenery could be better but I won't whine about that - just stating a fact.)

I am looking forward to staying at Megan's for the long weekend while they vacation in Maine.  There is no cold problem there thanks to the wood stoves.  The home in Lincoln needs one.  Even keeping the thermostat fairly low, the bill is outrageous.  (Yes I am whining but it is cold related!)

It wasn't always something I whined about.  Leaving for Maine Christmas night was the norm for many years.  This allowed us to hit the slopes the day after the holiday when everyone else was still packing or traveling.  Many years we had no lines at the lifts and lessons were private.  And it was cold but I never seemed to notice.

In 2016 we opted to try tubing at Ski Butternut in the Berkshires.  A few more people but still fun, especially since the tow rope pulled not only the tube back up the hill, but us in the tubes.

Today is also National Thank You Note Day.  While sorting photos through years of photos I came across this note.  Though technically not a thank you note, it does express being thankful.  And not to mention super cute!

So other than the cold, I am thankful for many things.  The bureau sanding is complete (even the hard to finagle corners), we spent many hours with family enjoying the holidays (and will continue to spend time with them), all our engine parts for the boat have been delivered to Marc's (our Floridian "post office"),  and warmer weather is in our near future!
