Life Is Good

Image
We spent the morning helping the boys.  Glad we could help in our particular way and everything that needed to be accomplished, was completed.   Dinner at Bandidos!  My Mother's Day gift from the kids.  Long time coming but since we were not here in May - a wonderful way to celebrate! I LOVE chaos household!  (Our nickname anointed by Meg.) After a full day of horseback riding, gymnastics, swimming and dinner - Brianna wasa DONE! GP (Grandpa Paul) to the rescue!    I headed to the pool this afternoon hoping to nap quick but Brianna was watching and came running.  Though the water was "too cold" at 78 degrees, she managed to play for almost an hour. So sorry I did not have my bathing suit.  Probably one of the last days for swimming this year. :( Life Is Good though!  Life Is Good.

National Act Dumb Day

Image
Today was another short day where after fasting blood work, I puttered at Megan's while Paul worked on the red car.  Watching Annie (dog) and Tallulah (cat) play hide and seek in the yard.  Lunch with Donna, friend from Memorial and one of the only reasons I continued working at Women and Infants.  A short nap, dinner and out shopping for random objects until the stores closed.  And another day has disappeared!   Today is National Act Dumb Day.  I immediately recalled how, when living in Providence and adopting Buddy from the pound I thought I could get away with not buying him a license.  I had just paid $60 for the "free" adoption and they want money for registering him with the city.  Nope! It took about a month for them to come knocking on my door.  I acted dumb.  "Of course he has a license.  It's on his collar."  I knew it was his rabies tag but thought if I acted dumb he would move on.  End result - I had...

Happy Birthday Scott!

Image
Happy birthday Scott!  Love you to pieces!  So proud.                                                             2008 with a double head injury - still smiling!                                                       I cannot remember if it was a chunk of wood your brother threw                                                         or the glass dish from the neighbor.  You were brave and handled                ...

Maine to RI

Image
Traveling south from Maine on a Wednesday - awesome.  There was no traffic!  A bit of construction (okay more than a fair share) but we seemed to time all the one lane roads perfectly.  Home in less than 5 hours with two stops - not bad!   Brianna, our project manager, made many miles fly by.  Our phone conference was almost an hour long and we have homework.  There are soooo many decisions to be made.  Garage doors - roll up or track?  The man door - window or no window?  Where to place the windows?  How many doors?  How tall?  How wide?  What amount of snow load?  What snow load is required in Dallas Plantation?  How much overhang?  Colors?  Insulation?  Vapor barrier?  Critter and dust barriers?  Will there be heavy ceiling fixtures?  What is the water mitigation?  On and on and on.  So Paul is presently drawing up our ideas and we will reconnect with Brianna ...

The "Path"

Image
After a very late start we managed to accomplish quite a bit.  Two batches of laundry dried easily in the warm sunshine.  A trip to the dump - 8 boxes of recycles, 2 boxes of metal and 2 bags of deposit cans (donated to the kids) and 1 small bag of garbage.  I cut the lawn.  Paul took down a few more trees and then we proceeded to chip the smaller branches while the logs were either transported to the "path" or set aside for the "path".   The "path" is a loop through our woods that we established many years ago and sadly have neglected.  Many hours were spent zooming through on the snowmobiles and the 4 wheeler.   Megan and Scott 2013                                                   Scott even built a bridge over a small brook in 2016.              ...

35th Anniversary

Image
Tonight we celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary!  Marinated pork loin, sweet potato fries and brussels sprouts all kept warm and we headed to the park to eat lakeside.  Calm waters, no wind, few people and even fewer bugs.  A perfect evening and even better sunset. This all began when I asked Paul to my Senior Prom.  1985. The dress was borrowed from a friend and had I known I would have worn a different bathing suit that left no tan lines! I remembered this when I purchased my wedding dress and choose a strapless bathing suit to wear all summer.                                                  Our own "Titanic" moment.                                                  ...
