Happy Halloween!

Image
Lennie's first Halloween - too cute!                                                            Alan, Karen, Scott, Rebecca                                                            Paul, Kris, Peter, Marc Last night's comedy show - too funny!  Dickies - how could one forget the turtleneck bib!  Afghans - the blankets that appear to have been blasted with a shotgun.  Trips  in the car ...

Quiet Time with Maddie

Image
The highlight of my day (so far) - "napping" with Maddie.  Worse than a kid - unable to lie still for long, poking, licking, and just changing positions frequently.  All good though.                                                      My biggest challenge today - biting my tongue while people act stupid.  We got a bill today for sewer use in Lincoln.  There is no sewer connection - septic is our waste solution.  But no one wanted to hear this.  Because Narragansett Bay Commission says we do, so we must!  Round and round Paul went with the town office people.  Thank you Don for finding the bill from the last pump out!  But why is this our job to prove you wrong!  Stupid! And Walmart.  We definitely had to go and we paid dearly with nearly losing our sanity.  Everyo...

Cement!

Image
Our day started before the sun even rose.  We had the alarm set for 6am with a delivery scheduled for 7am.  Good thing we only hit the snooze once.  The first cement truck from Farmington arrived at 640am.  Jim and his crew were waiting and ready to go. Two loads later and multiple return trips from Jim to "float" the cement and make sure it was setting perfectly.  The weather could not have been more agreeable.                                           We left Jim putting the final touches on the slab and headed for RI. Before we left, we placed the finished Memere Adam hope chest in the "girls" room.  Loving it! The plan was to stop in Auburn and check out a car for sale for Scott/Rebecca.  But before we could get there, it sold.  Change of plan.  Start dilly-dallying and pick up Marc at Logan for 940pm....

Phase 3 - More Progress

Image
Fenway with his new favorite toy - a tennis ball I found on one of our walks. Today I thought - finally a hike!  We were all set to head out as soon as the sun warmed things up a bit.  But as usual, our day went sideways.  In a good way.  Jim came back to finish with the last few pieces of insulation and add more wire.  And because Paul is keeping an eye on everything - noticed a problem in the plans at the site of one of the proposed beams.  A quick fix now before the concrete is poured but would have been troublesome had he not noticed it.  And we are definitely on the schedule for a concrete pour tomorrow. So today was spent with a little cleaning: Paul did the hard part - balancing on the beam to clean the fan blades.  I only had to clear the room below beforehand and clean the area afterwards.  A much easier job with the extended han...

Phase 3 - In Progress

Image
Rainbow from Dallas Hill Road                                                            Sunset on Rangeley Lake Jim and his crew of two showed up early to place the forms and the insulation. Paul was able to help a bit moving the fill onto the edges of the insulation on a couple sides of the site.  Unfortunately due to the continued wet weather and problems with the tractor's front end - the other sides had to be shoveled by hand.   Wire is placed on top of the insulation awaiting the cement.  Delivery is still scheduled for Wednesday. The finished site look...

Blueberry Hill

Image
The pond at The farm at Blueberry Hill Today - a walk in the rain.  Sanding and filling in with wood putty on the hope chest.  Urethaning my newly sanded trash can cover.  Putting the deck furniture away for the season.  Laundry.  Filling the wood ring.  Some cleaning.  Some drawing and painting.  Some reading.  A Mel Gibson movie.  And finding out the parts in Taunton - not the right ones.  Watching the Ruffed grouse in the yard.  Listening to the Canadian geese headed south.   The plan - see if we can order the garage door through Builder's Supply here in town.  Back to the library for more movies.   PS - I added more wedding photos.

Kevin and Isis Wedding Photos

Wedding photos are in!  So many - hundreds!  Here are a few of my faves.  As I continue perusing, I will add them here.                                                                                  Such precious faces!

Hunter Cove

Image
Our afternoon outing took us over to Hunter Cove and around Mingo Loop.   The deer were plentiful and unafraid.  This fella could have eaten out of our hands he was so close. And this morning we had a surprise visit from Jim!  He brought two truck loads of insulation in preparation for the cement arrival on Wednesday. The chipper works great!  No more pushing the branches, they get "sucked" in and chipped nicely into tiny pieces.  No more shards. The tractor - not so great.  Needs front end work.  But Paul has found parts - in Taunton.  So with luck we will pick them up while in RI and be back in business.   The plan - sort through the hundreds of wedding photos and choose favorites.  Finish the hope chest (wood glue applied today to area delaminating).  Start putting outdoor furniture/grill away.
