Beach

Yup, there is a beach on East Grand Bahama called Beach.  It is supposed to be a historical landmark but I cannot find out anything specific.  We wound up eating our picnic lunch on Beach today.  Homemade chicken salad and lemonade.  Yum!

Plenty of driftwood and shells among the hurricane debris.

We were able to rent a car this morning so we headed out to the very east end of the island.  There is a whole of nothing between Freeport and the end.
Trees decimated by Dorian and then the brush fires.  Miles of this view!

The East End Library now closed.

Many homes left to the elements.

The very end (at least it is when driving a rental!).

There was a nearby boat ramp with no real activity.

Big Harbour Cay to the left and Deep Water Cay to the right.  The many cays are accessible by                 boat only.

After lunch we stopped at Lucayan National Park.  Worth the trek in the hot midday sun.  Caves that required us to descend stairs and ramps.  Trails that circled the "coastal desert".

And then a quick, short walk across the "highway" to Gold Rock Beach.  As the guide stated "The most beautiful beach anywhere".  I did not believe him since everyone says that about "their" beach.  He was right and I was wrong.  Gold Rock Beach is now in my top 10.  (It's also where Pirates of the Caribbean was filmed!)

                                                                    Most rickety, crooked stairs ever!

An awesome day that left us exhausted.  The jacuzzi and pool are calling!
