Struts and Braces

Lots of sun today!  Lots of snow squalls intermittent through the day!  Lots of wind with gusts up to 30 mph!  High temp = 22!  Feel like = 11!

We started our day bright and early to take advantage of the sun.  First task - get the 3rd eave strut in place over the front left side (above the windows).  I am grateful we did the heavy lifting first!  Before muscles began to protest or freeze!

After a quick break to warm our fingers and toes - we started on the bracing.  Of course they are all different sizes with different tags.  After a bit of puzzling - we got it done!

I was pure ground crew today.  Because of the snow squalls and icy cement - I was in charge of making sure the ladder did not slide away.  A very, very important job!

And then we ran out of bolts!  What?!?  The other task - attaching the strapping - required a special screwdriver - a square bit.  Which Paul did not have.  (I am learning tons of trivia!)  So we decided to take a trip to Tractor Supply in Farmington.

                                                        Snow squall leaving Rangeley.

                                                Beautiful sunset in Phillips.

Tractor Supply had everything we needed.  12.62 pounds of bolts, washers and nuts.  (They charge per pound.)  Awesome!  And the square bits.  Success!

Of course I ran into Walmart since we were right there.  16 minutes in and out.  Never would I ever have thought I would be at Walmart on Black Friday!  (It wasn't bad though - people in Maine are a bit friendlier!)

And Mike H has informed us that the lull is still broken.  Now we are trying to figure out if we can do the remaining roof work with just the lift.  Fingers crossed.  (Once they are thawed that is!)
