A Doozy of a Day

Rain and thunder and wind all day.  Momentary lapses of power and very brief moments of no rain that enabled us to walk the dogs.  More than an inch of rain that kept us inside.  Rummikub, scrabble, movies, reading and a bit of cleaning.  (Oh and a short nap!)

Dinner - out to town.  We thought to try one of the "newer" restaurants - The Black Pearl.  Paul and I had burgers while Mom had the lobster bisque.  Good food, good service.  We left before the karaoke started.

Prior to being the Black Pearl, the Red Onion was the name of the restaurant.  We frequently stopped there with the kids for their pizza through the years.  It was a good spot to head for on the snowmobiles and very kid friendly.

While perusing my recipes I came across this one!  Kudos to the author who nailed it perfectly!

Word of the day (Thank you Paul!) - doozy.  Meaning an extraordinary one of a kind.  Thought to come from the Duesenberg Motor Company (1920s) but impossible since the word is believed to be derived from the word daisy which was a slang term for someone or something that was the best in the late 1800s.
