Maddie's Zoomies
Our goal today - finish the fence! With only one small section to go, we should be done early. But before we start - a trip to Lowe's is required. Thinking we would sneak in a trip to Tractor Supply we headed to Woonsocket. Detour. Another detour. Still another detour. Mom figured out about the parade before we did (I was on the phone with her). Ugh. We regrouped and headed to North Smithfield. After 39 minutes we arrived at Lowe's (had we headed there initially - 8 minutes at the most). No more side trips are now possible. Grab our items and head back to Kevin's.
While Paul had a quick cup of coffee, I thought I would start dinner. Teriyaki chicken in the crock pot. Easy peasy. Paul started the fence while I finished prepping dinner. For the first time in all my years cooking I experienced an electrical arc. Yikes! Kevin checked that the breaker did indeed break and there was no further danger. But the crock pot - fried. Ugh. I regrouped, found a smaller crock pot and restarted the process.
We finally finished the fence though and it was still early enough we had time to let Maddie run around and exhaust her zoomies. So perfect for her!
The remainder of our afternoon was spent in traffic. What we thought would be a quick trip to both Home Depot and Lowe's to return the extra fence pieces turned in to a trial of patience. A small fender bender backed up traffic for too long near Home Depot in South Attleboro. The crappy layout of the plaza meant there was no alternative but to wait.
Since we were going by Walmart, I thought we could run in quick. What was I thinking? With the numerous delays and frustrations of our day so far, why did I think Walmart would be easy. With interior construction and revamping going on, I was unable to find almost everything I wanted. We left with almost nothing. Ugh.
Lowe's returns went well and we headed back to Kevin's so I could complete dinner. The teriyaki chicken, rice and brussels were super yummy and worth the grief.
Word of the day - ameliorate. Meaning to make better or more tolerable.
Today's blast from the past: October 12, 2007: Megan and Scott enjoying the swings in Rangeley.
The plan - start a new project!
