St Augustine

A super calm morning with the palpable humidity already rolling in! We took advantage of the smooth water and wrapped the head sail. An early morning visit from the pump out boat before we headed to the marina to do laundry. Super cute lounge area (with AC!) while the clothes washed and dried. A quick lunch with Lookie Lou's in the party and tour boats driving by, taking pictures and causing us to rock.  (We wrapped the main sail while rocking which was a bit challenging.)  By mid afternoon we were ready for a break from cleaning and packing and headed into town for ice cream.                     Hyppo popsicles - mine was peanut butter pie and Paul had blueberry cheesecake.   A short walk through the cobblestone and brick streets to a cute little cafe for a meet up with friends.  Cool drinks and lots of shade, it was a nice way to spend our last afternoon. The plan - haul out tomorrow morning and...

Lightner Museum/Night Life

We started our day early.  First, the heat which we were trying to avoid and then there are the people.  St Augustine is very popular and we are learning that the sidewalks get very crowded by late morning.  We headed to the Lightner Museum as they opened.  A former hotel turned spa turned museum, a very worthwhile stop with tons of interesting facts and architecture.                                                            The courtyard               The walkway                                                                        ...

St Augustine

A great afternoon with old friends and new friends in St Augustine.  Blue Water Cruising has been there for us from the beginning, supporting us and encouraging us to live our best life on the water.  Being able to commiserate with and inspire each other - priceless.   We spent the afternoon wandering the city on streets we have not seen on previous visits.  A cute city with lots of character and too many shops for a single day. The problem with our mooring spot - we are part of the boat tour!  Several different tour boats drive ("sail") by periodically.  Ugh!  If only I could charge for photo ops. It was a great ride up from Fort Matanzas which we were sad to leave.  A super quiet morning with a good breeze (Paul actually slept under a sheet!).   Some chaos on the journey (weekend warriors!) but overall very peaceful and a nice finish to the season. A stunning sunset and even better with all the tour boats done for the evenin...

Fort Matanzas

As the sun was rising this morning we were already on our way.  I could not believe how hot it already seemed and hoped once we were truly moving we would have a breeze.  A gorgeous sunrise and calm waters as we headed under the 4 bridges that cross the ICW from Daytona to Ormond.                                                              Knox Bridge between Ormond and Flagler                                             The water remained calm with only short bursts of wind.                                             And the chaos start...
