Fort Matanzas
Tonight we are anchored back at Fort Matanzas, one of our favorite anchorages.
After wearing shorts yesterday and sweating on our walk, today we have struggled to stay warm. This morning's temp - low 30s. It was difficult to leave the bed and dress while able to see our breath in the frigid air. A little warmth from the oven, multiple layers and by 11am with the temp nearing 40, we headed south.
The bright sun looks deceptively warm!A shout out to Crescent Beach bridge master - super opening! She timed our arrival perfectly without us slowing down or altering our speed in any way, the bridge opened, we scooted through and she closed without a hitch. (And she wished us warmth!) This is a real skill!
The plan - early departure for Daytona. We know the cold is following us but we managed to book a space in the marina for a week. Dock power = use of electric space heater! Hopefully after a week of ridiculous cold some warmer weather will follow. Fingers crossed!
Today's crazy holiday - Thomas Crapper Day. Yup. He did not invent the toilet but did perfect it and popularize it.
