Kennebago River
Today's adventure started a bit later than usual. Rangeley Health Center was very accomodating in seeing Emily who has developed impetigo. (Brianna has been on antibiotics for a week with the same issue and of course she shared!)
So we arrived just after 2pm on the Kennebago River. TJ drew the short straw and had to share with both girls. (And no they were not given paddles!)
The day was perfect - sun, a bit of wind and temps in the low 70s. The water was lower than normal so the current - barely moving.
Lunch on one of the "beaches" on the side of the river.
Emily and Brianna running around on the sand.
Our turn around point at the "rapids". There was no chance of paddling through with the water level so low. But it was the perfect place to allow the girls to swim.
Red dot - where we put the kayaks in the water.
Distance 1.3 miles between the points.
The girls helped move them downstream by holding
on to the backs of the kayaks and kicking.
Kayaking in Maine is truly amazing!
Paul and I made a "quick" trip to Walmart in Farmington for Emily's antibiotic while TJ cooked dinner and the girls took in my laundry. Then a campfire and marshmallows.
Word of the day - cataract. Meaning great flow of water, flood, waterfall.
