Post Office Peeve

Our trip to town this afternoon - frustrating.  Our "free" post office box just cost us $30!  Apparently because we did not let them know we wanted to renew, they changed the locks and sent all our mail back to the senders. (We wanted the same lock number which meant they had to change the locks a second time.) Though we were out of town at the time we should have renewed, a phone call would have sufficed.  At no time did anyone alert us to having to renew our "free" box.  (It's free since there is no delivery to Dallas Hill Road.)  Lesson learned.  Our renewal is now on my calendar with plenty of leeway so we can visit or call in our notice.  Ugh.

The weather was perfect today for working outside.  While Paul completed the rafters on the carport, I put an additional coat of stain on the back deck.  Easy peasy with no furniture and a nice breeze.

The 6 rafters are ready for us to "load" tomorrow.  Moving the kayaks will free up garage space and storing the extra metal will help clean the yard from construction leftovers.

Word of the day - bugbear.  Meaning an object or source of dread, a continuing source of irritation.

Best post office funny (Johnny Carson) - "Mail your packages early so the post office can lose them in time for Christmas."
